A free tree scheme, handing out thousands of trees to residents, groups and parish councils across the district, has returned for a second year. The annual Remembrance Parade and organised gathering at Southwell Burgage War Memorial will not take place this year. However, wreaths will still be laid by representatives from the Royal British Legion and Southwell Town Council. For the annual Poppy Appeal, a collection tin and poppy box has been placed in the Handicentre on Queen Street, Southwell. Southwell Town Council isn’t able to organise the Lantern Walk this year but we’re still giving children and adults the chance to be able to make a willow lantern and to light up windows all around the town, bringing some joy and magic to our friends and neighbours. Make a willow lantern with a professional artist for the Lantern Walk on Saturday 5th December 2020 Open to all ages from 5-105 years!
