On Sunday 30 July the Outlaw Triathlon will pass through Southwell during the cycle section. The event will see over 1000 competitors taking up the challenge of a 2.4-mile Swim, followed by a 112-mile Cycle before finishing with a 26.2 mile Run for the full event.
OSB Events would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the support shown to the athletes at our previous events, and hope to see people from the local community once again supporting the athletes in these mammoth challenges. Over the past 14 years, we have raised over £1.5 million pounds for Cancer Research UK, not to mention all of the other local charities that have also benefitted from their association with the Outlaw Triathlon. We are now also partnering with Alzheimer’s Research UK and Great Ormond Street Hospital through Tri4life.
The event will be based at the National Water Sports Centre (Holme Pierrepont) Nottingham, with the swim and run sections taking place in the lake and along the riverside path respectively. The cycle section will travel through the beautiful Nottinghamshire Countryside, using routes that will pass along the A52, through Radcliffe on Trent.
The cyclists will then head over the A46, completing an eastern loop around Car Colston, Hawksworth, Shelton, Elston, Farndon, Hawton; and then heading north to Lowdham, Oxton, Southwell, Kirklington, Farnsfield before returning via Lowdham to repeat the eastern loop, and then returning to the National Water Sports Centre for the Outlaw Triathlon run section. The full route can be seen here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28278754
Organisers have been working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council Highways department for over 12 months, to ensure that we achieve a balance between providing a safe route for the athletes and making sure that the impact on other road users is kept to a minimum. We would like to work with you to ensure that everyone understands the routes, where roads are closed and what will be the easiest diversion on the day.
