Southwell welcomes the 2022 Tour of Britain Cycling Race
On Thursday 8th September, the Tour of Britain cycling race returns to Southwell! This prestigious cycling event will travel through Southwell’s historic town centre for the third time.
There will be eighteen teams all competing for the race. This includes Geraint Thomas’ INEOS Grenadiers and Israel – Premier Tech with Alex Dowsett and Chris Froome.
There will be many places to watch the cyclists or head down to The Burgage to the Tour spectator hub; from 11am there will be refreshment stalls and live music from the Hot Dogs Brass Band.
Visit our shops who are participating a fantastic window dressing competition; cafés and pubs where you will receive a friendly welcome whilst waiting for the race, which should arrive between 12.45 and 1.15pm.

Early Notice:
The route of this year’s Tour of Britain will pass through Southwell, from Saversick Lane, along Westgate, then wrong way up King Street and down the Burgage. From there the route continues along Station Road.
There will be no parking on The Burgage and Station Road on the 8th September to allow for this.
