2 January 2019 – Our excellent secondary school has completed its conversion to become an Academy in a process which has taken over two years. It is the first member of a multi-academy trust, Minster Trust for Education (MITRE), and has been joined by several local primary schools, including Trinity and Lowes Wong Infant Schools.
The Minster School will continue to provide an excellent education to children from Southwell and catchment villages, as well as take a lead role as a teaching school (Minster Teaching School Alliance) in supporting over 70 local schools to provide high-level education to pupils.
The Minster School enjoys great success with regular outstanding examination results in A level and GCSEs. It is a National Maths Hub and a lead partner in the Nottingham Music Hub (Inspire). The school is also Nottinghamshire’s cathedral school and continues the long tradition of choral worship and musical excellence.
Head Teacher, Mathew Parris, who is also the CEO of MITRE, said:
‘I am excited to begin the next stages of development, building a multi-academy trust with the clear aim to support the best education in all its facets in local schools’.
