A non profit making group, whose aim is to provide a rota of Community First Responders who will attend certain potentially life threatening emergencies associated with cardiac/respiratory difficulties in Southwell, although some of our Responders are also now trained to attend young children and falls.
The group works in conjunction with East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), which trains and supports members throughout. As Community First Responders, they work with and alongside the Ambulance Service, attending emergencies, treating the casualty until EMAS arrives. At present, they are able to provide cover with EMAS from 8am to 10pm on a rota basis with each volunteer giving their availability to fit in with their life. Volunteers work in pairs, although some are happy to attend alone.
No previous first aid/medical training is needed and there is no upper age limit. If you have transport, can drive and feel that, with training and ongoing support you could act in an emergency then please telephone 01636 814494 or 01636 814382 for further information.
